Desmond Luis Edwards is a disabled intersex actor, artist, musician, and advocate. Born to a Black and Dominican family in Queens, New York, Dez is no stranger to music. After moving to Orlando at the age of 6, they became interested in their elementary school's choir classes and later, learning alto saxophone in their school's band. They continued with the band program throughout middle and high school, proving their skills as an instrumentalist and leader within their classes. They joined their high school's theatre program in the fall of their sophomore year as sound designer, where they composed full orchestral pieces to be played during their school's plays. They finally became an actor at the age of 15.
Dez was casted for the first reading of the groundbreaking Broadway musical How to Dance in Ohio at age 17. They would later go on to perform in the show on Broadway, playing an openly autistic and transgender character.
